The Visual Factor: Judging a Book by Its Cover?

Beauty is in the eye of the buyer.

Publishing Insights

In the article Book Covers: Do They Matter?Melanie Figueroa from The Poetics Project discusses the importance of book cover design at marketing level, after having stumbled upon some statistics about booksellers’ view on the visual factor. She wittingly quotes Terri Giuliano Long’s article to argue that many readers do factor cover design into consideration when purchasing books online or in a bookshop, and while I agree with her that authors may not always be responsible for the quality of cover design, they certainly should take this aspect more seriously. True, the book writing itself is a piece of artwork and it is a shame that readers would not purchase your book because of the bad cover design, but wouldn’t a good design help you get across your message even more directly and add to the book’s artistic value?

Your Book Home Study Writing Course By Glen Palmer

Today I want to talk about Glen Palmer’s Start
Your Book Home Study Writing Course. I stumbled across his course by
pure accident, the reason I stopped to read the sales page, something I
wouldn’t normally do is because deep down I’ve always wanted to write a
book but always thought I had to undertake some expensive creative
writing course and it would take years to write. However, after reading
the sales page I decided to invest in the course, why? Well for three
reasons really, one, Glen claims that anyone could write a book from
scratch in under a month and two, for only $27, it’s a steal and
finally number three, he gives you a 60 day guarantee. So if you aren’t
satisfied with the course, he’ll refund you the money. It was a win /
win for me.
I got immediate access to the course and was just blown away with the
excellent content in this course. It comes in 16, very detailed
modules, but don’t let that put you off, each module is really easy to
understand and comes in video, audio and PDF format, and if that’s not
enough you can download the entire course as a 150 page eBook.
Although the fantastic content, I was still a little skeptical about
learning to write a book in under a month, however, my skepticism was
blown out of the water when I came to do the 5-minute writing
technique. Now I’m convinced I can write a book that fast and what’s
more, Glen makes it really fun, I actually enjoy going though the
modules.
Now you may think, why do I need to write a book? Well the answer is
quite simple. As Glen puts it, you instantly become an expert in your
chosen niche or field of expertise. You become the person your
competitor’s clients come to for answers. It’s a key to unlimited
profits.
So if you’ve ever wanted to write a book, wanted to increase your
client base, heck if you want to quit your day job, then I seriously
urge you to invest in the Start Your Book Home Study Writing Course now
before the price increases.

Happy hunting and Happy reading,

Publishing

How to get published. I’m new to the writing world so I’m always looking for more information and new leads. I came across this site looking for just that. If you are a new writer or just looking for references, this page might have what you looking for. writing-world.com .  I’ve been told in order to become a good writer is you have to write. And write and rewrite. however many times it takes. So is the old analogy true? Does practice make perfect? Well for those that are looking for perfection I found this funky site that you can post rewrites of already published works.  https://www.fanfiction.net/  Sort of like a cover song to musicians. I thought the idea was great. I dream of the books I’ve read and wake up wondering if the author could spin-off in the direction my dream had taken then how would that have ended up. I also found this site http://www.chooseyourpublisher.com/ . I haven’t used it yet but i looks like it can give a list of publishers that is tailored to what you want to write. Or if your ready and want to self publish try this site. http://www.xlibris.com/

Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare

Award winning , and well know author Cassandra Clare has created a lively and colorful world. The Mortal Instruments book 1, The City of Bone has already gone to the big screen. Ok here is where I tell you the truth about my reading habits. Since my budget is so low I can almost never buy a new book. So I’m stuck with borrowing from friends or buying second-hand. With that in mind I have to tell you that I have only had a chance to read up to book 3 City of Glass in the Mortal Instruments. I have just recently started this blog, so having spent more time search for new free leads is how I can across the fact that there are 3 more M.I. books available. So seems like I’ve got some catching up to do. Cassandra Clare also has a number of other books I’ve got to catch up on. Clockwork Angel, being one of them. Cassandra Clare did such a great job closing out the City of Glass book that I thought there might not be another one. So until recently I didn’t keep track of what she was up to. So here I am getting caught up. Let me know what you think, but please no spoilers on this one. I want to be surprised. If you go to Cassandra Clare’s Homepage and sign up for the mailing list they will send you a code for a free book. Not only will get a code for a free book you will also be directed to Bookshout.com,but the site also has hundreds of free books. Worth checking out, the link to her page is at the top of this post. Again to everyone let me know if you come across any free reads and I’ll make sure the word gets passed on.
